MUSE ART: Jassie Uo
Awhile back, the ever so talented creative duo, Street Etiquette, featured an editorial photographer that really struck a couple heart strings with her self portraits. I was really drawn to her abstract yet simple point of view & second for the brave simplicity of her images. Plus, I really love to see under the radar artists experiment with new techniques & styles.
Jassie Uo is a Chicago based photographer that seemingly really loves to play with composition & color in a way that showcases her aesthetic taste in the most honest way.
When my studio mate, suggested a self portrait series, the first person I thought of was Jassie Uo. I love to do a little research before starting projects & when I couldn't find her tumblr anymore I did some avid digging. Where did this muse go??
Happily after a little Instagram peeping, we found her. Not only has her work evolved from self portraits, but her first post when finding Jassie Uo was her expressing WHY she photographs herself:
THE WEEKLY EDIT: ART EDITION 003
ARTIST STATS: JASSIE UO
BASED: Chicago, IL
TRADE/SKILL: Photography, Art Direction; Visual Arts
AESTHETICS: Clean, Abstract, Editorial
WHY WE ADMIRE HER WORK: It's so nice seeing artists utilizing everything they have to create their vision. Jassie uses herself as a subject the same way she utilizes her models for photo sessions.
Additionally, when we reached out for her polaroid sessions she's offering, she quickly responded. We like humble, creative beings around here - its so MUSEY!
